Sequencing is an online platform that helps people turn genetic data into usable insights that can support better health decisions. Through the Partner Marketplace, you can run apps and reports for DNA raw data analysis using data from leading consumer genetic tests and clinical laboratories. This guide explains how to get your raw DNA data and upload it to your Sequencing account.
In short: download your raw DNA data file from your testing provider, then upload that file to your Sequencing account from the Upload Center. The steps for each are below.
How do I upload raw DNA data to Sequencing?
Once you have your raw DNA data file saved to your computer, follow these steps:
- Go to the Upload Center.
- Choose the option under Upload from My Computer and select the raw DNA data file you downloaded.
- Click Upload. Your file will upload securely to your Sequencing account. It may take up to 15 minutes before the file appears in your account.
How do I download my raw DNA data from my testing provider?
If you do not yet have your data file, the first step is to download it from the company that performed your test. If you used a consumer genetic test from a provider such as Dante Labs, AncestryDNA, 23andMe, FamilyTreeDNA, MyHeritage, Living DNA, HomeDNA, Genes for Good, Vitagene, or DNA Land, you can download your raw data directly from that provider.
The exact steps vary by company, but the process is similar: visit the website of the company that provided your test, locate the raw data file, and save it to your computer. The same basic process applies if you used a clinical laboratory.
Because the steps differ for each company, we have documented the process for each provider in the Genetic Testing Providers section of our Knowledge Center. Once you have your file, upload it using the steps above.
You have the right to obtain your DNA data
If you took a DNA test and cannot download your data, you can request it. Under United States federal law, the testing company is required to provide you with your raw genetic data on request.
